Aberdeen, Maryland operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor and City Council, Aberdeen's governing body, are composed of the mayor and four council members, elected by non-partisan vote to four-year tems in November. The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer and appoints the City Manager as well as all Commission and Board members subject to the approval of the Council. The City Manager acts as the Chief Operating Officer and appoints all officers and department heads with the approval of the Mayor and City Council. The Aberdeen Council meetings are generally held the second and fourth Mondays of each month. All meetings are open to the public. Minutes of Council proceedings are available to the public online or during regular City Hall business hours. The Aberdeen City Government strives to provide top notch public services to its citizens, property owners, and visitors.
